Lake association grateful for help, donations
To the editor:
Lake Attitash Association’s 2012 annual meeting on Monday, May 21, drew more than 60 people to the Moose Lodge in Merrimac.
Congratulations and thanks were offered to everyone who worked to achieve the Weed and Algae Fundraising goal. Receiving special recognition were the 13 members of the Lake Attitash Association Board of Directors, the volunteers who assisted with a variety of projects and fundraising events, the 135 households that donated money, and the towns of Amesbury and Merrimac for their support…
Attorney Barry Fogel of West Newbury, longtime legal adviser to the Lake Attitash Association, spoke to the group about new legislation in Massachusetts created to protect lakes and waterways from the spread of invasive weeds or zebra mussels and promote responsible behavior by boat owners. This legislation is not yet finalized but has the potential to increase protection of our lakes and waterways.
